Cleveland, who covered his first Mississippi sporting event at age 13 and hasn't stopped for 57 years since, owns the state's record for number of times having won the award. A native of Hattiesburg and resident of Jackson, Cleveland has been Mississippi Today's sports columnist since 2016.
